Claire Lee Behaviour and Training
About Me
Claire Lee BSc (Hons), FdSc, RVN
I have developed a wealth of experience and knowledge in working with animals and their caregivers over the past 18 years of my career. I started my career as a Veterinary Nurse over 15 years ago, and quickly found my interest and passion for the emotional wellbeing and behaviour of animals.
Alongside nursing I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to shadow, and be mentored by many of the leading trainers and behaviourists in the Bristol area, and in 2018 I was asked to join a Clinical Animal Behaviorist on a part time basis seeing behaviour rehab and training cases.
In 2022 I left both of these wonderful roles, to work with an assistance dog charity as a Training and Behaviour Advisor.
I use reward based training to teach animals desirable behaviours, with a kind and ethical approach to resolve behaviour and training issues. I am passionate about helping animals that are fearful of the vets and groomers, by teaching pets and their caregivers how to co-operate in their daily handling and veterinary care such as grooming, ear and eye drops, nail clips, vaccinations and blood samples.
In 2015, Benji a 7 year old Yorkshire Terrier came into my life after he was signed over to a veterinary practice to be euthanised due to his aggressive behaviour. I brought him home where he lived alongside my 3 cats Kizzy, Forrest Gump and Mango. After his rehabilitation he went on to join me in rehabilitating other dogs as a helper dog, and enjoyed many holidays in the camper van around the UK until he passed away in 2023 at the age of 15. Missing a scruffy a little terrier in my life, later in 2023 I welcomed Howie, a 1 year old terrier mix from Dogs Trust into my home, to start his rehabilitation and our learning journey together.
